FLOWERS BOTH BEAUTIFUL AND FUNCTIONAL • When we think of flowers, we often think of them as beautiful, delicate and sweet smelling. It's easy to forget that flowers have an important job to do! Their main mission is to make seeds so that the plant can reproduce. In order to fulfil this task, each of the three main parts of the flower has a role to play. The triad includes the stamen, the ovary and the pistil.

HELPING CORAL REEFS SURVIVE

protecting our skin and the planet • We all know that applying sunscreen to our skin will help protect us from the sun's harmful rays, but did you know that your choice of sunscreen may actually help the planet? Scientists now recognize that certain chemicals found in popular sunscreens are causing damage to one of the most remarkable natural environments on earth, the coral reefs.

ANIMALS COUNT • A DOG CALCULATING ANGLES SOUNDS LIKE A CRAZY DREAM BUT IT'S TRUE: ANIMAL MATH IS A GROWING SCIENCE.

ROMAN NUMERALS • Numbers are just symbols and learning them in a different system – such as Roman numerals – they can be a fun challenge. Roman numerals are still used today on clocks so it's useful to know them. Study the chart to decode numbers and then learn to build numbers. It requires a bit of extra thinking, but it's simple once you get the hang of it. You might even try to create more Roman numeral operations for yourself.
