Ducati hit 100 • This is a year of double celebration for Ducati: the centenary of the Bologna firm’s foundation as an electronics manufacturer in 1926, and the 80th anniversary of its entry to the world of powered two-wheelers with the 48cc Cucciolo in 1946. Since then Ducati has come through difficult times, and several changes of ownership, to become a byword for two-wheeled style and technology, winning countless races and championships as well as producing some of the world’s finest and most exciting bikes. These are some of the highlights.
Going Beyond… • Technology moves on daily, or so it seems, and it’s no different in the world of motorcycle tech. Cardo has been in the intercom market for over 20 years and was the first in the world to introduce Bluetooth technology, rider-to-rider intercoms and Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC), the first “mesh” device for motorcycle communication. Now, they have launched their latest invention, which combines all their technology into one specially designed helmet.

WORTH Waiting For? • In April 2020, Sudarshan Venu, Chairman/MD of India’s third largest indigenous bike manufacturer, TVS Motor Company, paid £16 million in cash to purchase the bankrupt historic British firm Norton Motorcycles from the liquidator. More than five years on, Norton strode back on to the world stage at the 2025 EICMA Show in Milan as a born-again bike brand with significant potential – although its return to the marketplace is being termed a ‘resurgence’ by the company, rather than a revival!
Cool Clobber • The summer of 2025 was both the warmest and sunniest year for the UK, since records began in 1884. And it wasn’t a one-off, because 2022 and 2023 join it in the top three. Last year there were 11 days where temperatures reached 30°C or higher across the UK and this presents British motorcyclists with a novel challenge - how to keep cool during summer rides, whereas previously we were more concerned with staying dry!

East Staffordshire History • The area around Uttoxeter is blessed with quite a number of historic landmarks, fortunately for us joined by some lovely riding roads, either for a quick spin after work, or a more involved ride for those from further away or if you want to take time to get off your bike and explore some of the places en route.
