Rock POWER! VS CLIMATE CHANGE • Our planet is heating up because of increasing levels of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Human activity has caused the increase. Burning fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas, and coal to run our furnaces, cars, and machinery produces carbon emissions. And when we cut down forests, we lose the trees that trap CO2 and release oxygen. We need to drastically lower our carbon emissions, so that life on our planet can continue to thrive. We also need to get rid of some of the CO2 that’s already in our atmosphere.
